when you download papers and fonts from other sites, how do you get them to show up in photoshop?

also, when making cards and such, how do you make a transparent spot for photos?

putting a photo in is usually a layer....I do the background first, then open a new file of the pic I want, select it, copy it, close it out, and paste in the background I started as a new layer.

When I have PS open, I hit file, open and look for what I need. I have a file in my documents called downloaded for photoshop and when I download, stuff goes there. I hope that helps.

I don't so much make a transparency, but rather, I make the photo and new layer. I open it up, do what I need to do, then click the move tool and move it to the document that I want it in.
