The CTT Class Setup

Ok I know the class is supposed to be a setup of 60% Gen Ed and 40% Sped Ed but i Had heard that The Gen Ed is supposed to consist of students that are at a level 3 or 4.

In my class it seems that most of the Gen Ed Students should be in Sped Ed (being left back more than once and poor scores) is this right at all? It's not like they are getting the Sped Ed services they need since they dont get pulled out and there's not a 2nd teacher with a Sped Ed license in the room.

Is anyone familiar with this?

It seems my class is the dumping ground for the students who's parents refuse for their kids to be in Special ed rather than a CTT class.

I teach CTT as the Gen ed (though im cert Sp ed too). My friend is the Sp. ed teacher in the room.

besides the 10 spec ed students we have, we got all the students that teachers who were looping refused to loop with. Real fair! Plus we got another student who we were promised was going to be good and that is NOT the case, and she is abused. It really stinks because we spend so much of our time just dealing with behaviors - and less from the spec ed students. Even our gen ed students arent that high - and we were told our class would be hand picked.. yeah right!

CTT is not a dumping ground, and it defeats the purpose if it becomes one.

There is a random poll to see who gets put into a CTT..legally, from the reg. ed side.

Well I dunno who decided who goes in the class but it sure became the dumping ground because the other 5th grade classes not including the separate sped ed class all have the forgive me for saying so "normal" children.

it just seems a little fishy to me

So, you are a CTT class, but there is no Special Ed. teacher?

yep no sped ed teacher...my school hasnt found one yet AND i failed to mention the kids dont even know its a CTT class

I teach HS and have an 11th grade CTT class. I am on my THIRD special ed teacher. The class is a disaster. The spec ed students are not having their needs met and my general ed students are also suffering. Plus I go out on maternity leave in January So my students won't have even one familiar teacher thoughout the year.
