How would you have handled this staff development dilemma?

Here in NC, any teachers with less than 3 years teaching experience have to go through the BT (Beginning Teacher) program. Since I only had two years in NY, I'm included in this lovely program.

Today, all BTs had to go for Science training from 8-4. They split us up by grade level. I texted two other teachers from my school (one teaches 3rd, the other 1st) and asked them to let me know when they were going to lunch, and where I could meet them.

So, as my lecturer is rambling ON AND ON AND ON, I get a text from both of them, saying that they're going to On the Border, and that they're DONE FOR THE DAY!!! Yet, our group, she let us out for lunch 1/2 hour later, and expected us to come back for another 3 hours, when everyone else was let go.

I blew off the afternoon!

What would you have done? I can't believe it--I ALWAYS get stuck in the group with the sh**ty luck!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

i would have done the same thing you did! It wasn't fair that you'd have to go back and the others were allowed to leave. Good for you!!!!!
