Anyone use HIIT?

Just started today. Wondering what everyone's experiences have been with it and if you like it/think it works?

I hope to eventually get back into doing something that again.

High intensity interval training.

I do it from time to time on treadmill and i really like it.

I don't do much of it since I don't want to lose weight, but it does work! It's great because although it's intense, the sessions are pretty short (20 minutes at the longest). HIIT is way better for burning fat than steady state cardio.

I used to do it b/f I got pg. I was just running on the treadmill regularly b/f this and this really helped me to lose the last few pounds and tone up alot.

I did it occasionally when I was short on time, since the workouts with HIIT are shorter.

Those that have done this what is your exact method?

From what I have read, get yourself up to a decent pace for 5 minutes, then when you are ready put it on really high for 30 seconds, then back to normal pace for 30 seconds. You do the 30 second thing 6 more times. Is this correct? If anyone does or has done it on a treadmill could you tell me your speed and incline for both stages if possible?

I tried what I said above today. IT was a good workout and I had my heart rate up, but I am not sure if I did it correctly. I am new to it, so I didn't go that fast, but it felt fast to me. lol.

I think the point is the extremes of going really fast and then going really slow. So your fast intervals should be as fast as you can possibly go....and your slow should be a snails pace...some people even stop doing activity all together for the slow period.
