How would you handle? Pre-K incident

I get back from lunch yesterday (granted my asst. was out the rest of the day too) & I announce its show & tell. One little boy tells me he can't get his show & tell b/c its IN the computer. HE or someone else put the quarter (its Q week) IN the slot for the disk on the computer.

I was soooooooo mad. I obviously wasn't there when it happened, but I heard him tell the lunch teacher what happened & she said, go tell your teacher & left. (NICE )

So I go & look & you can see it there, I tried to get it out w/ an ice cream stick, but no luck.

I then told the class how our principal will not let Pre-K have computers if this is how we treat them & how expensive they are & how disappointed I was.

Granted the boy who's quarter it was is CONSTANTLY in trouble & has had maybe 5 good days since school started (I don't know for sure if he did it).

Anyway, not sure at this point how to handle...they LOVE using the computers. I also am hoping to get the quarter out or I'll be in big trouble.

What would you do?

i would have done the same thing... it's hard to discipline at that age beyond talking to them. for the child that did it, when the computers are up and running, he should not be allowed to play on it for a set time.

Maybe he won't be allowed to share anymore?

I wouldn't let him use the computers...what u did was the right thing....ugg...kids!!

Well my asst. thankfully got the quarter out & she told me at one point right b4 lunch he was at the computer when he came back from the bathroom (I was in a small group w/ some students) & he may have done it then.

I kinda called him on it & he looked guilty and avoided me.

I told the class again how the computers are not a toy and how we have to treat them with respect.

I'm going to do like you said & have that child NOT use the computers for at least a month!
