What to do in Florida?
DH and I are going to visit his aunt and uncle for a week in April/May. I have been Florida once in my life when I was in high school, DH has gone fairly often when he was younger.
So, we're flying into Tampa, and staying in Bradenton.
DH was hoping to go to Disney. I have NEVER been there, and I have no idea what to see or do there!! Any advice/suggestions are needed and welcomed!!
Also, has anyone ever been to Bush Gardens in Tampa? Is it worth going?
I need help and I know many of you have visited FL, so any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!
TIA!

Re: What to do in Florida?
I went to school in Tampa and have family down there, so I visit Tampa 3-4 times a year.
I love busch gardens and definetely recommend it. I'm not big into theme parks, so i'm not a big disney fan, but I love busch gardens because the roller coasters are a lot of fun and the park is gorgeous. It's like walking through a zoo.
The Tampa area is great, you should also check out Clearwater and St. Pete, it's beautiful down there.
I hope you enjoy your trip!

Re: What to do in Florida?
We go canoeing right outside Tampa on the Hillsborough River. You can rent canoes at a shop (I forgot the name) and they will drive you to the river and help you launch. It's really serene and a great way to see Florida wildlife (mostly alligators and turtles) up close in their natural habitat

When I went on the busch gardens web site, it seemed like you needed a pass for each part of the park. Is this the case?
Also, can you get through Busch Gardens in 1 day, or do you need more time?

Just to get into Busch Gardens, you only need 1 park pass. You can DEF get through Busch Gardens in 1 day.

Re: What to do in Florida?
Definitely go to Disney if you've never been. DH and I had both never been until a few years ago. We went to Magic Kingdom in '05 for the day and loved it! We just got back from Animal Kingdom this weekend and had the best time. Now that we live in FL we'll eventually do all the parks one by one.
I think you should definitely do Disney for a day or two while you're there.

How far (hours) is Sarasota from Disney World? I'd love to go, but I was warned it wasn't as close as I thought.

It's probably only about 2 hours or less... definitely worth it.
