My family and I have booked about 15-20 cruises with this company:
bestpricecruises.com
They have always gotten us the best deal around - and we always get shipboard credit and other extras.
I do price around before I book - to see what the best deal out there is - I always book my own air btw that is usually the best idea - it is usually (but not 100% of the time) cheaper and you have a say in what flights you get, seats etc. we booked cruise air the first two times and it was a disaster- never again.
Also you should check out:
Cruisecompete.com They are a great site - you put in the cruise you want and a ton of companies compete with quotes - this way you can see if anyone can beat a quote you have or if you can get a better deal. You don't have to book with any of them if you aren't happy.

I agree with bestpricecusies.com. Saved us about $400 on our crusie to Alaska. Give them your e-mail address and they give you "special" pricing.

I think it depends on what crusieline you are going on - I know a while back RCCL and Celebrity put in a rule about discounting - so discounts are rare but can be found.
You can good discounts from the company I book with for Disney, Princess and some others.

We use a travel agent. When it comes to cruises, we only trust our agent.
