Ideas for promoting critical thinking, problem solving and making predictions? (elem. level)

I have to write an essay for part of my job application...I've been a SAHM for a few years and I feel like my brain is a bit fried. Here is the question:

The XXXX Public Schools established a district goal to improve the ability of our students to think critically, make predictions and solve problems. Explain how you could support this goal in your instructional practice.

I have a bunch of ideas already but just looking for a few more, thank you!!
