Alaska Excursions
Can past Alaska cruisers recommend the excursions they took? We're doing a 7 night NCL cruise in July. The only thing my husband won't do is the helicopter to the glacier (although that looks amazing!)

we did the NCL Pearl last July- it was amazing! We did zip lining, which was awesome, the dog mushers camp, buchart gardens, lumberjack show, and i think i am missing something... if you need anymore help, let me know!

Went in 2002.
Must do the White Pass/Yukon train ride!
Loved kayaking at the base of a Glacier, I foret the names/locations now, but it was great...seals popping up all around your kayak!
The totem pole park was nice too!

Why won't he do the helicopter to the glacier? It's awesome! I won't be much help then, because that's what I would 100% recommend.
We did a hike/raft on the Yukon Trail in Skagway that was pretty cool too.

Lumberjack Show, Helicopter ride, Whale watch, 4x4 tour, canoeing, Railroad to Yukon Pass, and we hit a local bar in each town.
Also Denali, Jet boat and steamboat tours before the cruise and tour of Fairbanks. Train down from Denali to Anchorage.

I don't do helicopters either!
In Juneau we did a whale watch which was alot of fun
Skagway - We heard the train ride was fabulous, but we did an amazing excursion. We went to one of the islands off of Skagway afer a small hike, we got in canoes and canoed into this lake at the base of a huge glacier. It was amazing!

We are doing the NCL Pearl 7 night cruise in May, so I can let you know how it goes!
Here are the excursions we booked:
Juneau--Helicopter to the Glacier with Guided Walk (I am scared of this, but it's a once in a lifetime)
Skagway--Ultimate Yukon and White Pass Railway
Ketchitkan--Misty Fjords and Wilderness Explorer (the boat, not the floatplane)
Victoria--Craigdarroch Castle and City Highlights

charon: We're doing the Pearl also and would LOVE to hear about your experiences!
DH isn't into the helicopter - we did one in Hawaii which was awesome, but after someone we know had an accident with one, DH swore he'd never ride in one again. I would LOVE to do the glacier though!

I was going to suggest the dog-sledding. That is a ONCE IN A LIFETIME experience--one that we will never forget. We did it in Skagway. Unfortunately, it involved a helicopter ride.
We also did whale watching in Juneau, and we saw LOTS of marine life--whales, sea lions, and also some bald eagles!
