UPDATE 3/9/08: WE'RE BACK!!! Can you recommend shore excursions for Grand Cayman and Ochos Rios, Jamaica?

UPDATE: Thanks for all the recommendations!! I figured i'd update this post and let you know what we chose.

In Jamaica the atv tour was sold out so I took your advice and figured we should do dunns river falls. We ended up doing the Kayaking to Dunns River Fall excursion. We kayaked for about an hour from a local beach all the way to the falls. Then we climbed the falls, which was kind of annoying at the beginning b/c we had to hold hands with people who were SO slow. At the end we just went up another way and got to go our own pace so that was better. We took a boat back to our ship and got free rum punch the whole way.

In Grand Cayman we did the 7-mile beach break and just took advantage of the beautiful weather and layed on the beach all day. It was a really nice beach.

I've been to Jamaica once, but I was really young. Can anyone recommend fun excursions for these islands?

I would do a waterfall excursion in Jamaica. They are really fun.

i went on a cruise about 5 years ago that stopped in grand cayman... we basically just paid a taxi to take us to 7 mile beach and we just hung out on the beach all day... gorgeous water!!

We did the Dunn River Falls when we were there, my
sister did Horse back riding in the ocean.

Def go to Dunn's River Falls. It is soo much fun. Last time we went we took a Catamaran there.

In Grand Cayman I have been to the seven mile beach, stingray city and the turtle farm.

Stingray City is amazing!!!!!

I definitely recommend Dunns River Falls in Ocho Rios.

I would also recommend bringing your own water shoes for it!

Jamaica-Dunns River Falls and Rick's Cafe (cliff jumping into the water)two very famous spots. There may also be a jungle you can tour. But please stay with a group b/c it can be very scary walking into town alone. The beaches are best in Negril. Very rocky elsewhere on the island! Hedonism in Negril is fun for a laugh!! You can do a day visit there for like 100 bucks each.

Cayman- Sting Ray City and the Cayman Turtle Farm...if you go to the Turtle Farm...don't eat the soup...unless you like eating turtle!!

In Cayman I would go to Seven Mile Beach, Boatswains Turtle Farm, Stingray City, Rum Point. Stingray City is a once in a lifetime experience. Very cool to swim with the stingrays or just hang out on Seven Mile Beach which is a gorgeous beach!!

ETA: There is also a submarine (Atlantis) which is pretty cool.

Dunns Rivers Falls in Jamaica! Amazing experience.

Been to Grand Cayman twice. First time did a "See and Sea" tour and the stingrays. Second time just spent the day at the beach. Don't go to the turtle farm

Jamaica we went on the 4X4 jeep tour of the island which ends at dunns river falls and Grand Cayman we did the Turtles & Stingray Land & Sea Adventure. We really like both of them. FM me if you want more specific info.

We did the falls and the dolphin swim with our cruiseline....if I remember correctly, it was 1 tour divided in 2....

The dolphin swim was awesome!!!!

Thanks guys!! We swam with stingrays twice already (on different vaca's) and swam with the dolphins on our last cruise a couple yrs ago.

So Dunns River Falls is fun? I have to go read the info on that excursion. The 7 mile beach in grand cayman sounds great since we want to do a beachy type excursion on one island and a more fun excursion on another.

On Grand Cayman they are either going to take you to the Royal Palms where they have beach chairs for rent, changing areas, bar and a restaurant or to the public beach which only has changing facilities. Either way, you can't really go wrong spending a day on Seven Mile Beach, it is beautiful!

Dunns river falls is great. You can climb if you want or just want up the stairs on the side but either way it's pretty cool to see. DH was chicken so we climbed up the stairs but if you climb be prepared to get wet.....we saw lots of people slip and fall into the water. Either way it's a great time and a lot of the excursions bring you there.

WE went to Jamaica for our HM. I hated Dunns River Falls in Ocho Rios. If I would have known I never woould have gone. It was wet and FREZZING coldwater, you have to hold strangers hands you can fall and realy hurt your self. I personal did not enjoy that excursion, and it was the only one we did there because others told us YOU HAVE TO DO Dunns River Falls in Ocho Rios.

Just went to the Turtle Farm yesterday, it was cute and they built a place where you can swim in a pool and snorkel with sharks (glass between you and them) but it was cool! Not worth the $80 they charge but cool. Emma held a baby turtle

Dunne's River is fun. It's not the most amazing thing in the world, but it's a cool experience. Then we went to Margaritaville and had lunch and went swimming in their pool.
We also just went to the beach and walked around town in the Caymans. The beach was unbelievable- definitely the nicest I've ever seen.

u HAVE to do dunn's river falls in jamaica. we went on that cruise 2 years ago and did a dunn's river/dolphin swim excursion - loved it!

I hve done this cruise 3x...it's awesome.

In Grand Cayman - there is a 7 Mile Beach Break combo with Stingray City- snorkeling with the stingrays is the most awesome experience you will ever have. And 7 Mile Beach is the prettiest beach you will ever see.


In Jamaica - make sure it is a tour with RCL. DO NOT go out on your own, it is not safe. With that said, Dunns River Falls was very pretty - be careful at the end, you have to walk through this little "village" where they have people selling stuff and they harass you pretty bad.
