Is it possible to learn to
like to run or jog? I would love to get into the routine of running or jogging regularly, but I don't know if its the fact that I am scared (bc it is tough at the beginning) of the challenge or what...has anybody kind of gotten used to running or jogging and do it regularly with a passion? How did you do it and what is your routine? Thanks.

Re: Is it possible to learn to
Yes!! I am the perfect example.
I hated running. HATED IT!! I did a bootcamp around this time 2 years ago and there was so much running, adn I hated every second of it. The only decent thing about it is that we ran in central park.
Well last October and 1 baby later I decide I need to start working out again. But being a working mom, I need something fast and intensive. I am heading off to the gym, and its a gorgeous day, so I decide- let me just go to the park and run instead. So I did.
I loved being outside, but I HATED running. I even had decent tunes this time but still, I kept counting each block to see when I woudl be done.
After a few weeks, the running got easier and I started to zone out and enjoy the music and the atmosphere. I didn't even realize where I was until I was over half way done.
Now- 6 months later, I LOVE running. I even ran today in the rain without my Ipod because I couldn't find my headphones. I even roped my friend into running a half marathon with me this October. And when I don't run, I miss it.

Hey are you talking about the Bally's Challenge? My friend did it and I ran with her in CP but OMG that was a killer! I am definitely going to try.

No. I did Stacy's boot camp. It was definitely a killer, but after 6 weeks of it, I looked amazing!
And then I got pregnant.

Re: Is it possible to learn to
Yes! I am also one of those people who HATE to run- but its the only exercise for me that I get such great results in.
I recommend the couch to 5k plan (i think its on www.coolrunning.com).
the key to running it to start out very slow. in 6 weeks i was able to go from having to walk after a mile to running (slow, mind you, but running) and 10k!
I am going to sign up for a half marathon. I have a running calendar at my desk at work AND at home. i only do it 4x per week - long runs mixed with shorter runs.

I have all intentions of starting the couch to K plan...I downloaded the podcast, and...um, never started.
I always wondered the same thing about running though...I never *enjoyed* it, though I did it in HS. I think I just need to START.

Re: Is it possible to learn to
you definitely can learn to run.
I use to hate it, it still isn't one of my favorite activites...but, one day I dribbled a basketball forever while I ran. I could not believe how fast I was...I made great time....
I did it to show myself that its all mental. I played basketball for years and the running never bothered me...so my dad suggested I dribble for a run and see what happens.
My boobs are huge at the current time, so I only do a run from time to time. Hopefully when they get smaller, I will run more.

Re: Is it possible to learn to
I second the "Couch to 5K" plan. It really eases you into running. I also find that I enjoy running most when I am listening to good music and running around the neighborhood (as opposed to on a treadmill).
