I REALLY need help getting motivated

I thought the looming vacation in July where I will be in the pool all week with my family would motivate me. I was wrong. I have done nothing in weeks.

PLEASE help. I need motivation. My son is hardly napping and that's when I used to work out. He goes to bed at 6:30 but honestly - I am so damn pooped at this time that I don't even want to turn on the DVD player - forget about working out for an hour.

HOW DO YOU ALL DO IT?

HELP ME PLEASE

I am borderline desperate - I swear. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Chat Icon Sometimes I don't get to exercise until 9-but I make myself do it. Even though I'm tired, usually once I start exercising I wake up and am able to finish pretty easily. You can do it!

Re: I REALLY need help getting motivated

My suggestion is to work out in the evening, but for less time. Only do the first 10 or 20 minutes of the tape. (And MAKE yourself stick to the shorter time.) Or choose a work out video that's shorter. Years ago when I fell out of my exercise routine and gained weight I did this. It's really just to get your body back into the routine. When you're tired, it's a lot easier to say "I can do it. It's only 10 minutes." Then once you find you're used to it, start increasing the time. Once you've increased to the full hour, if there's a night you're tired, jump back down to a 10 or 20 minute workout. And after you've started, if you feel up to it do more.

Another suggestion is to work out with your son. Put on some music and dance around with him. (Think "Sweatin' to the Oldies" Chat Icon ) Pick him up and hold him while doing lunges and squats. Raise him over your head.

And BTW-- I'm really still working on this too. I really need to get motivated and back into shape. I just started doing Yoga again in March. However, I haven't lost any weight. I really need to work on my eating habits Chat Icon

The great weather is finally on the way. What about getting out for a walk with the baby in the carriage or getting a bike with a baby seat on the back?

I would imagine that you are too exhausted at the end of the day. What time does DS get up? Could you get in at 25 minute workout in the morning?

I walk everyday with DS!
I went nuts yesterday that I couldn't get out! I did walk the 6 miles on Sunday for March of Dimes, but, I have become addicted to walking.
I don't do any other exercise and I probably should. Walking is good. Both DS and I are getting the fresh air.

Re: I REALLY need help getting motivated

We take walks every day that it's nice out - and I have the baby jogger that I will start to use this weekend.

My son is up at 5:45 every morning - and doesn't nap really throughout the day - if he does nap it's so inconsistent lately - could be 20 mins - could be two hours - I just never know which is why I never want to start the workout in the first place.

I am going to do it this morning again - I have no choice but to! Chat Icon

Did you check out the 30 day shred thread? This dvd kicks your butt and I'm seeing results and its only 20 minutes. I do it after the kids are in bed around 6:30 pm. I dont ever want to or feel like it but I just make myself and after I feel so much better.

my kids love the jogging stroller (my older one yells faster, much to my agony)

If you have one, get outside! It's hard to do long runs with it, but the more you do - the more used to it you will get.

If you ever want to meet up for a run, let me know.
