failed hsg? HELP!
I went to have the hsg done on Thursday and the radiologist could not get the catheter in and we did not complete the test. Has this happened to anyone and what did you do? Thanks

Re: failed hsg? HELP!
You were probably very tense. Also, not to frighten you, but you may have cervical stenosis, which is really not anything to worry about anyway, but could cause that problem. They had a VERY difficult time getting the cateter inside of me for both hsgs and my iui and i don't have cervical stenosis. I had a medicated hsg at stony brook university.
you're almost better off that it failed in a sick way bc they finally got the catheter in me and it showed that i had two blocked tubes. my ob/gyn's office told me to go straight to ivf or adopt. i visited an re and requested a tubal cannulation instead. right before they were going to do the cannulation (to clear out my tubes), they did a medicated hsg and that's where they found both tubes to be open.
in other words, if you were so nervous that they couldn't get the cateter to work, chances are, your tubes would have been in spasm too. i had months of unnecessary worry thinking i had unusable tubes and they're just fine.
i suggest asking for a medicated hsg at a hospital. it's so much less stressful (except the iv/oxygen mask, etc.) GOOD LUCK! Maybe it was the wrong time of month?
