Re: HSG tommorow
OK Im starting to freak out about it. I cant sleep. To make matters worse..this is TMI but oh well what dont I tell?.... I have some bathroom "issues" and Im feeling constipated and a lot lot lot of pressure and almos tsevere pain in my lower stomach and "back there". Im freaking out that this is going to make the procedure worse, and Im very anxious and not sure I can do this.....
Did anyone have an un-painful hsg????

Re: HSG tommorow
Donna, don't freak. It's really not bad, and like I said earlier, it over so quickly.
I had blocked tubes, so my first hsg was very uncomfortable, but I think it was scarier not knowing to expect. Back then I didn't know anyone who had one before.
My second one went much smoother. Ok, I only had one tube, but it was blocked, but knowing what was going to happen made it much easier. More than anything, it was just pressure I felt...

Re: HSG tommorow
The 'waiting' is the worst time...
I am not sure how many advil/motrin the doctor told you to take but Rs said, to take 2-3 pills, 2 hours prior and then 2-3 more 1 hour prior. I did this and I had just a slight AF cramp from the pressure ...and it disappeared in less than a minute. Just think of it as an IUI it's really only another minute or two longer than one.
Definitely ask them to see the screen. I didn't do that and had to wait to hear my results.
I hope your appt arrives quickly so you can get the 'waiting' part over.
Praying you have an easy painless clear hsg !

Donna,
The anticipation is the worst part of it. It really didn't hurt when I had it done. Ask that when they are trying to insert the "ballon" that the nurse make you laugh. They did that for me and it went in really easy. The ballon feels like an AF cramp.
Definitely ask to see the screen. It is very interesting watching. I was lucky to have a doctor do mine so he pointed out everything.
If you aren't going back to work, go home and relax. You will be a little crampy. Remember to take some Advil or Mortin about an hour to an 1/2 before the procedure. Also, bring a pad with you. The dye and iodine might stain.
Morgan
Morgan said everything I was going to say. My tube is either partially blocked or it spasmed during the test and the HSG wasn't bad for me at all. There was some slight cramping only.

Re: HSG tommorow
If it makes you feel better, I had ABSOLUTELY NO PAIN during my HSG test. The only thing I felt was a minor cramping when the dye went through. I took 4 motrin about a 1/2 hr before I had the procedure.
Good Luck!
