Re: Alternative to Hamburgers?
I also make Picadillo but with Potatoes (Tex-Mex Version). After you make the picadillo, you could make tacos!
Also, I got this next recipe from Rachel Ray......it taste like tacos. YOu make Hamburger patties and roll them in a wrap. I toast the torilla wraps before rolling. You can add any of your fixins. I love lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and avocado! Tip: cut your patties in half before placing them in wrap.

Sheppards Pie.. Yum! I just made this actually last nite for dinner tonite..
Brown your meat..about halfway through add a whole medium chopped onion- season to taste..I usually use some adobo, garlic and pepper. Get about 5 carrots, cut them into coins and boil them until tender. Open a can of peas and then mashed potatoes...either the instant kind or make your own..
layer them- meat, peas, carrots, potatos..top with a little paprika and bake. YUM!!

Get some red peppers and make stuffed peppers. Fry up the chopped meat with onions and 1/4 cup of white rice. Parboil the peppers (after you hollow them out) for about 30 minutes. Stuff the peppers with the chopped meat mix. Pour tomato sauce on top and put in the oven at 350 for 30-40 minutes covered with tin foil.

Be careful of the rice. No one told me to use cooked rice, we had crunchy stuffed peppers.
