question about ingredients 5/16 update with recipe

If a recipe calls for sherry and I don't add it, do you think it would make difference? I found a recipe for chicken and it only calls for a 1/2cup sherry.

5/16 recipe at bottom. Enjoy Chat Icon

Re: question about ingredients

Sherry gives a very distinct flavor to the meat (chicken) and 1/2 cup is a good amount, so I'm wondering if the chicken will taste like it's missing something because you don't use it.

Re: question about ingredients

the cooking wines in the supermarket are rather Chat Icon .... take a sip of one, and you'll see...

I tend to buy inexpensive, yet drinkable wines and liquors for my cooking...

A bottle of sherry will last a long time since the alcohol content is high. just get an inexpensive drinking sherry fino at the liquor store and put it in your frige door....

Re: question about ingredients

Well I made my new recipe that I got online and my dh said it was great so I figured I would share;

1cup soy sauce
1/4cup sherry
1 cup brown sugar
3 galic minced
1 onion chopped
2 tsp ginger
(mix all the above together in a bowl)

2lbs chicken wings coat with salt and pepper broil both sides until golden. Place in crockpot then add bowl of all the ingredients mentioned above and cook on high 2 1/2 hrs. I don't eat chicken on the bone but I have to say it smelt really good while cooking.l
