OK, so we have a station down here that's the same format - it's called Ben FM. Actually, it's not like 94.3 or KJoy, it *is* very varied - Like I heard Linkin Park followed by "American Pie". No Kidding. This is a new trend in radio called "Jack" format. There's also a variation called "Bob" format, but it's more edgy. ::insert shrugging icon::
Honestly, I don't think this is going to work. WNEW tried something VERY similar with its "entertainment" format that failed miserably. What amazes me is that WNEW and CBS I believe are both owned by Infinity! Did they learn NOTHING?
And Gertyrae I COMPLETELY agree with you about the country stations issue! But I've since moved to a place where I can get 4 country stations, so that's pretty cool. Incidentally, a friend of mine was working at CBS-FM as well. He was the Program Director of Y-107 (NY's last country station) before it flipped. Now this? Poor guy. He's always told me that working at CBS was a dream for him. It's such a shame.

Format Flipping is the most Retarded thing about NY radio today. I want to go talk to all the radio big wigs and say "ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR FORMAT FLIPPING MIND?!?!?!?"

But Kristin, WNEW was classic rock FOREVER before it went "progressive talk" before it went "generic top 40" before it went "Entertainment" before it went... oh good Lord there's no point in rehashing it all.
NY radio doesn't seem to understand that if it ain't broke you shouldn't fix it. Infinity MOST of all.

I'm pretty upset by this. Just found out today.
I think it is terrible that the classic station is no longer. Just because it tended to have an older population of listeners. The fifty somethings were commenting that they were driving to work today and there was nothing on for them. It was depressing. Just what we needed... another station for Pink and XTINA.

I saw my mom yesterday and she was like I dont have a radio. I was like what do you mean and she said no radio station to listen.
