101.1 is no longer an oldies station!
They changed at 5:00 today without warning. I'm not quite sure what this new format is though...

I really think this is worse then when Krock Changed. My parents must be crushed! Who is going to play oldies. My mom will listen to z100 but my dad is gonna freak (hes already mad that theres no country station.

I just found this history, which I thought was interesting:
CBS` first FM station, the station went on the air on 12/1/41 using the call letters W67NY on a frequency of 46.7 MHz. On November 1, 1943, its call letters were changed to WABC-FM to agree with CBS` AM station, whose call letters were derived from the name of WABC`s former owner, the Atlantic Broadcasting Company. The FM station moved to 96.9 MHz in 1945 and its call letters were changed to WCBS-FM in November, 1946. WCBS-FM moved to its present frequency, 101.1, on 9/21/47. Rock format 1969-72. Changed to rock 'n roll oldies format on 7/4/72
WCBS-FM played its last oldie at 5 PM on Friday, June 3, 2005, following which the station changed to the "Jack" Hot AC format.

This is much worse than krock changing...it has been this format since 1972.
Kristin, my dad is also mad about there not being a country station..that's why we got him sirius!

My dad couldn't handle sattalite radio we are lucky he can use the cable tv  I remember ALWAYS listening to 101.1 when I was little!

someone better put my dad on Suicide wawtch... i dont know what he's gonna do if he cant sing along with the Sherelles and the Pips 
(hence why i used to have him drop me off Blocks away from where i needed to be when i was younger  )

I don't know about your dad's, but I am annoyed there are no country stations....think about it...the most varied region in the country and we have no oldies or country and we are down to one classic rock station (i think)

Well like 1 and a half classic rocks. Thats kinda what Krock is. But I agree. They could get rid of 102.7 and 106.1 since they play the same as Ktu and z100

what about the 50's and 60's? What about Cousin Brucie? What about the love hour, our half hour hour half hour? LOL
OMG I grew up listening to this station from the back seat of my parents 74 Chevy Nova, I laughed the first time I heard a U2 song and thought I had a different station then realized the song was 20 years old!
I don;t htink NY was looking to change CBS fm at all, everyone plays the same da mn music now
Double sadly for me, that this won't affect my parents as they just got XM satellite radio in their new car and I on the other hand REFUSE to pay for radio.... for now at least.
ETA: if you go to their site, you can hear a bit of the music. Happened to be an oldie at the time but they are also playing Gwen Stefanie  I will definitely miss the interviews with old bands and in studio live sets.
