I just got this email from my old Sorority Alumni Chapter in regards to a blood drive. I am in FL and can not assist, but if anyone is interested in donating blood here is the information:

Blood Drive

In honor of Jennifer L. Profitlich and her son Ryan.
A celebration of Jenny's life and Ryan's first birthday
June 20, 2005
at the
RVC Blood Center
located at 333 Merrick Road
from 2pm to 7:30 pm.


Jenny is able raise little RyRy, thanks to God, her doctors,
and a volunteer blood donor
If you needed blood, you’d expect it to be there.

Eligibility Criteria:
• Bring valid ID and know social security number
• Minimum weight 110 lbs.
• Age 17 – 76
• Eat well (low fat) & drink fluids
• No tattoos for past 12 months

National statistics have proven that one in three people will require a transfusion at some point in their life, yet far too few people donate in our community. The local donor participation rate is less than 2% versus the nationwide average of 5%. The result is periodic blood shortages in some communities, such as Long Island. Since there is no substitute for human blood, we can look only to ourselves to meet this challenge.
