NYC Summer Paycheck question?

This is my first year teaching, needless to say that it is my first summer off and paid. I can't wait to enjoy it.

But I have a question. We had to sign for our summer paystubs today. But when I got home I realized that the summer checks had and adjusted gross payment. Each check deducted $400 and change from my regular pay.

Is this normal? If not, I will be on the phone with NYC so fast but I don't want to jump the gun.

I didn't notice that on mine. I just signed up for TDA and that starts coming out on July 15th.

Did you not work a full year? maybe that is why the summer is adjusted.

Did you get an emergency check at the beginning of the year? Sometimes they overpay w/ emergency checks. Other reasons might be that you didn't work the full year or you went over your days...anything like that?

Did you start teaching in Sept? If not, then the summer checks will only reflect the percentage of the school year that you actually taught.

If you did, then I don't know the reason! I'd be on the phone in a heartbeat too!

If you started the year later than the first official day your summer checks are pro-rated based on when you started. That happened to me last year.......I took over my class in Dec. '06 and when I got my summer pay stubs there was a few hundred dollars less each pay check and it was because I didn't work the first few months of school so they pro-rated me.

Oh that stinks! I started in November so I guess that's why. Aww man! Now I am going to have to find a job to atleast cover that!!!!!!! $430 a check that really adds up!

omg, i feel your pain! i went back again in feb. after maternity leave i am down 700 a paycheck. i am screwed! i new it would happen but i didn't realize how much!!
