for moms with twins OVER 12 mos.
now that dtwins are walking and active i find it harder to walk away to accomplish certain things. there are times that they are climbing, biting, fighting over toys, etc, (they do also play nicely together too). but i feel like every time i try to go into the kitchen to do something i have to run back to them.
please answer the following:
when are you cooking dinner?
where are your twins when you are cooking?
i am barely cooking anymore. i make a lot of stuff for them on the weekends that i can quickly reheat, but as far as dinner for me and dh, not really.
tia!!!

Re: for moms with twins OVER 12 mos.
Most often, we don't eat until after the twins are in bed - around 8:00. DH gets home about 7:00. He will help finish baths and keep DC company while I start dinner. They go to bed, we sit down and eat. On weekends I really try to eat as a family, but with our schedules during the week, it is impossible.

Re: for moms with twins OVER 12 mos.
When it was cooler out I would use the crockpot. Either put all ingredients in at 5 am before they woke up or during their nap.
Or I cook during their nap and reheat.
Lately, we've been eating a lot of salads or low carb meals so I'll marinate and grill a bunch of chicken early in the week and use it throughout the week.
I'm always on the lookout of recipes I can make and freeze.
When I go back to work FT, I'm planning on cooking two or three dinners on Sunday and freezing them and/or I'll cook two dinners at a time, every other day. On alternate mornings/nights, I'll do laundry.

Re: for moms with twins OVER 12 mos.
thanks for your answers ladies!! i guess i'm not the only one struggling with this issue.
cooking after they go to bed is just not going to happen for me. by then, i'm too tired and the idea of dirtying more dishes and pots makes me more exhausted. at that point, if nothing is cooked, it's pb & j!
nap time is difficult too, because i feel like i have to do "everything" else. laundry (2 floors down), shower (if i didn't get to before dh left or night before), dishes from breakfast, etc. etc. basically all the stuff just to get through the day in a functional way-the list goes on and on.
part of the issue i know that i have is that i don't have a dishwasher. so i am constantly washing dishes. i hate it.
keep the tips coming!! thanks!!

same here...I HATE eating dinner so late, but we can relax then. i usually prep it while they are watching tv. after their bath. My kitchen is right off to the living room, so I can keep an eye on them.

When they were younger I would put the tv on. DH is home though at that time so one can entertain and the other cooks.
When they get a bit older you can get them to "help", mix stuff, or pull apart lettuce, stuff like that.
We also love to order pizza, LOL.

Re: for moms with twins OVER 12 mos.
I try to do my meal prep work when they are still napping. As for final preparation, I do it while they are in their playroom or running around me like crazy little guys

Re: for moms with twins OVER 12 mos.
I only have ONE and I cannot do any of those things. If My mom wasnt here, I could NEVER cook dinner. I can NEVER leave the room for more then two seconds, not even to pee. But its just a stage. My niece was this way, and theres a 9 month old diff. Between her and Noah, just hang in there. NOW she HELPS with things.
Its just a stage( I teel myself every five minutes!)

Re: for moms with twins OVER 12 mos.
From the time they started walking until about 2 months ago, we had a gate separating the kitchen and their play area, so it was no problem. Now they have learned the stove is hot and for the most part, don't go near it. I do most of the cooking and preparation while they are sleeping anyway.
