My 1st 5K Race is tomorrow...UPDATE
and I'm nervous! I have no idea what to expect. It's the Arrow Exterminating Women's 5K in Farmingdale. If anyone can give any advice or thoughts, it would be appreciated.
Well I did it! Despite the heat and humidity, I finished in just over 36 minutes. Not too far off my goal of between 30 and 35 minutes. I'm very happy. When I average it out, it comes to just over 5MPH which is what I usually run at anyway. When we were lining up to start, I was in tears. I think it was because 3 years ago, I had the second of two major back surgeries and did not think I would ever run again. Small victories.
Thank you for the advice on picking my knees up when I started to lose steam. It really helped when I hit the 2 mile marker.

Good Luck!!! Have fun and remember that about half way into any race, people tend to poop out, so when you get to the 1.5-2 mile mark, pay attention to your running and pick up the knees a bit to get back into it.
