North Fork-Hotels?
Can anyone recommend a decent hotel on the North Fork? We are thinking of going there this fall for a long weekend, and we don't want to stay in a B & B (we have a baby, he's teething, some nights are ah, loud).
TIA!

Re: North Fork-Hotels?
I think the best for that is the Soundview which is a motel right on Sound Ave on the water.
Or if you want to stay in Riverhead, they have a new Holiday Inn and a Hilton Garden Inn right near the outlets.
The Greenporter is a fortune and IMO not for children more a couples place.
The Dolphin always scared me. I don't know why

Re: North Fork-Hotels?
I just returned from a 5 day stay at the Silver Sands Motel. It is on the south shore of the northfork. They have cottages or 2-room motels rooms (bedroom & a TV room with 2 extra beds, microwave, mini fridge, table and chairs)
The decor is OLD but the owners are wonderful and the people staying there wre really nice. It was a quiet, relaxing place. They have a private beach, which has less 'rocks, pebbles' than the north shore of the northfork, the also have a pool and a lot of grassy areas.
With an infant I would try to get a cottage. We stayed in the '2-room' motel and it was TIGHT with a crawling infant. The TV was on a stand and I was a nervous wreck about that, once the pack n play was opened in the bedroom, there was no room to walk. There is only an airconditiong in the bedroom part - not the other room, so he had to sleep with us - it was sooo hot & humid when we were there that we had to share the room.
Hope that helps

Re: North Fork-Hotels?
I heard the Soundview is starting to renovate their rooms and that they are nice. As for an end unit, as there are barriers up on the decks between the rooms - so it's a little more private. Not sure if that is true, but that is what I was told. They are on the northshore of the northfork and apparently have a very rocky/pebbly beach.

Soudview had a fire a few years back so they just finised remodeling.

Silver Sands is a older Motel but they keep it very clean. Right on the beach and they throw in some really good perks. Welcome bag. wine, movie tickets, ferry ticket. I would say if you stay there get a cottage or the house that is up but the pool. It is very nice and the owner I believe lived in it.

Re: North Fork-Hotels?
Thanks again for all the advice! I have some phone calls to make!
Before DS we would just take our chances and stay anywhere. But I don't want to go someplace gross with him, or somewhere that attracts lots of people who are there to party. Family friendly is definitely what we want now!
