Passport married vs. maiden name question
So I am going to Dominican Republic with my siblings, parents and DH in the beginning of October. My dad booked the trip and booked it under my married name. Unfortunately in the past 2 years, I have yet to get around to changing my passport from my maiden name to my married name....everything else is changed (driver's license SS card etc) except for my passport because I just have not gotten around to it. I do not feel that there is enough time to change it now, so I have to keep it with my maiden name. I contacted Jet Blue, the airline we are flying and they absolutely cannot change the name on the tickets because of FCC regulations. The woman told me to bring my marriage license and I also have a driver's license with my maiden name as well as my married name. Do you think this is ok? Has anyone else dealt with this before? I am traveling with 9 other people and I do not want to hold things up on account of my name debacle. Am I stressing this for nothing? Will the marriage certificate be sufficient? Thanks in advance!!!

D-
Many times, the marriage license will be satisfactory as supporting documentation. But I have also seen folks run into issues.
My best advice is to exhaust all your options for getting your passport updated before you leave. Perhaps use an expediting service if you can.
You could be fine, but personally I like to play it safe.

Re: Passport married vs. maiden name question
you can update your own passport in the back of it, there is a place to write your new last name. But you will have to carry your marriage license with you. You really shouldn't have any problems. My friend has been married for years and never changed her's and she was the one who told me to do this. She flies at least 3-5 times a year and it always works for her.

Thank you Heather! I really appreciate hearing this! I am going to have to check out that place to write my new last name. I figured as long as I have my marriage licence I should be fine. Thank you so much!!
