Re: How fast can I change my passport to my married name?
Cost, in addition to regular application fees, is $60 per application plus overnight delivery costs. Two-way overnight delivery is strongly suggested. If you mail in - clearly mark Expedited on the envelope. Anyone may request expedited service for any type of application (e.g., first-time applications, renewals, amendments of existing passports, etc.)
Send a completed form DS-5504, U.S. Passport Re-Application Form, a certified copy of your marriage certificate or your name change court decree, two recent color photographs (2” by 2”), and your current valid passport to the following address: If using USPS: National Passport Processing P.O. Box 13290 Philadelphia, PA 19101-3290
If using other delivery service: National Passport Processing ATTN: Department 13290 1617 Brett Road New Castle, DE 19720

I think you may be able to bring your marriage license. I am going away and I have to bring my birth certificate, my id and my marriage license (I dont have a passport tho) but I think you can just do this!

Thank you. I was told that there are passport service centers in post offices. I am going to call Roosevelt Field and Freeport tomorrow.

Did you get it right there, or did you have to send it away?

I have not changed mine yet. All you have to do is bring a copy of your marriage license with you on your trip. That is what I did when we went to france.

I think if you are traveling within 14 days, you can go to the passport center in NYC and they will do it for you on the spot. But I think that's the only place that will do it. The post office just sends your paperwork directly to the national passport center, they don't actually issue the passport there.
