how much is too much folic acid? 1200 too much?
are soy and green tea supplements good to use or is the drink form better?
any other recommendations?

I've heard you're supposed to take between 400-800mg of folic acid, so 1200 may be a bit much

I would recommend the green tea, but recently soy has been been disapproved by the fda as having no real dietary value. I know, I've been eating soy for years thinking it was good for me. Too much soy can be a bad thing in relation to ttc:
"A few studies suggest that high levels of soy protein may decrease fertility. According to a report in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition a small number of studies have shown that high levels of soy can increase menstrual cycle length, decrease FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone) and decrease LH (leutinizing hormone). But we must note that the high levels of soy generating this effect are equivalent to drinking three 12-ounce glasses of soy milk (60 g soy protein equivalent to 45 mg of isoflavones) for a month. However, normally most people do not consume this much soy."

This is a very important question. Personally I take a prenatal 800mg of folic acid and prescription folgard...which is b complex/folic acid. I am on a high dose of folic acid because my homocysteine levels are in normal range but on the high side. When you have high homocysteine you can have a clotting issue...Many women who produce low thyroid hormones fall into this category.

Vitamins and supplements are very simliar to medicine. Everyone needs different things.

Green tea, is great for certain people but not others. Since there is a chance it can elevate your NK cells which is great news if you want to fight off disease however, not always great news when you are trying to hold on to a pregnancy. Some women have elevated NK cells and have a higher risk of miscarriage..

Soy is a phyto estrogen. It basically contains substances that act like hormones. Some women take soy isoflavones to help them ovulate, or for a stronger ovulation. It basically can trick the body the way clomid does. However, again, if there is an underlying reason why you aren't ovulating....this may not help a person have a viable pregnancy.
