Airlines and their fares
DH and I are going down to Florida in a few weeks. We purchased our tickets on Continental probably about a month ago when I noticed they were starting to go up. I didn't want to lose out on a good airfare.
I just checked the fare again for the same flights we are taking, and the fare went down. Is it possible if I call Continental they will honor the new fare for me? We fly with them ALOT.
Do airlines do this?

I know Jet Blue does but they charge a fee to do it. 
It doesn't hurt to ask though.

I got a credit with Southwest when our flights to Orlando went down after I booked them. It was free to make the change and SUPER easy (I did it online)
Now I just have to fly Southwest again

A few of the smaller airlines will do it like southwest. BUT most of the bigger ones will charge you a change fee - which might or might not be worth it - if it was say $200 cheaper PP and they charge $100 to change then you still come out ahead - but usually you don't.
It never hurts to get on the phone and call and ask the worst they will say is no or that you have to pay a change fee.
Often though the difference is in the form of airline credit - that has to be used within a certain amount of time - if that matters to you.

Continental is usually good about price adjustments - I've had friends who have contacted them in the past when they have booked their flights in advance and then the price decreased.
They were given a credit for the difference to be used on future travel.

If you fly them a lot - I would do it based on principle (and I just read an article on how going forward they are going to be charging $15 for the first checked bag starting in October).

I hate to say it but I doubt they will credit you the difference.....most of the airlines wont these days. Give it a shot though....you wont know unless you ask!
