Video for Certification
I have to do my video for my certification--I believe it is going to be with a 1st grade class....does anyone have a lesson idea? Thanks!
I teach intermediate reading, but I am out on maternity, and am going to "borrow" a friends classroom...I need it done by January!

You can do any lesson as long as it falls in the guidelines of X minutes of teaching and X minutes of small group/individual instruction.

Hi,
I did a lesson for my video on homophones. It was really easy. I talked about what homophones are and gave examples. I handed out a pair of pears that I made. For the younger ones I had one word like son and I wanted them to write the other word. They colored it too.
At the end of the lesson we reviewed and they placed them on a pear tree. If you would like the worksheets I made, FM me your e-mail address.
If you plan on doing this lesson soon, it will be hard to get a first grade class to do it.
Just keep the lesson simple while following their guidlines. It doesn't have to be fancy. Just make sure you do what they ask. I put a little timer on to tell me that I taught for X amount of time and that I went over the activity for X amount of time.

GOOD LUCK!! Its super easy just make sure you follow all the guidelines!! I do know 2 people who failed because they did not meet the guidelines!!

Thanks everyone...I knew I shouldn't have waited so long, because then I could have done it with my kids...but now I have to worry about it now. Oh well, I just want to get it over with!

just make sure you have the non-whole group activity. I waited until June and did a regents essay writing review lesson. My non whole group activity was the essay practice - pretty pathetic, but still good for a P
super important - make sure you go over 20 min. My friend failed for being 19 m and 30s
