Please help, interview!
Hello, I finally have an interview on Friday. This is my first one since last February!!!!
So, I am a little rusty. It's for a reading teacher, what questions might they ask, and how would you answer them? Any other advice? Its in the same district I went to school in too! Please wish me luck!

They are going to ask you how do you teach reading/writing.

Re: Please help, interview!
I agree to find out the reading program - grade level, guided level...
ETA: make sure you have a book on hand that you are reading for pleasure (doesn't have to be right now, but don't stumble on this, they probably want to know that you read for pleasure yourself)
also think of favorite children's authors for different grade levels ie jan brett for 2nd; lois lowry for 6th; erin hunter for struggling older readers; david adler for struggling low readers

Re: Please help, interview!
What answer are they looking for when they ask how I would teach reading? Can I say I would use the balanced literacy approach, or do they want a more detailed answer?

i would say you could start with that definitely, but they want a more detailed answer. as the reading teacher you are going to get the kids that are struggling readers. classroom teachers use balanced literacy. although you might push in and do that in a regular ed. classroom, they are going to know what you are going to do with the struggling readers for whom balanced literacy did NOT work. they will want to know what you might know about other strategies and programs (i.e. Wilson, Linda Mood-Bell, Orton Gillingham, etc.)
GOOD LUCK!

Hi thanks! I've been reading the curriculum for ela so I know what they expect from a reading teacher, and I am going to draw from my experience when I was a reading leave replacement. I feel like whenever I am on an interview though, I freeze up and forget what I did last year! So, I am looking through my materials that I used also.
