It took us a long time to find a doctor that both does my husband's surgery and also takes our insurance. We finally found a doctor and went for a consult with him today.
We both really like him. He is fairly young, seems like a total brainiac but with a good sense of humor. He was completely understanding of everything my DH has been going through and wants to get this surgery done as soon as possible.
Unfortunately he will be away for the next 2 weeks (a conference/vacation) but he is hoping that we can do the surgery in the beginning of November. Being that my DH has been suffering for so long, november doesn't sound so bad. We can get through the next few weeks.
He will be having surgery for severe acid reflux/hiatal hernia. Basically they will be taking part of his upper stomach and wrapping it around his lower esophagus (sp?) to strengthen the valve there and to fix the hernia. He said my DH's is BAD for someone so young (38) but that since he is young, he's an excellent candidate for the surgery and it could CHANGE his LIFE! Not only will it hopefully help with most of the reflux symptoms, it should help with his asthma as well.
I am so ready to have my old DH back. He sleeps with me in the bed maybe 1 night a week i I'm lucky. Most nights he sleeps sitting on the couch because he can't even lay down and I miss my husband!!!!
