Rough Day
I had a pretty rough day today. My ADHD diagnosed student was off the wall today setting off the other kids, and tormenting them. Parents are concerned about the ADHD students violent behavior in the class while they know his issues from previous years it seems to just be getting worse.
I feel horrible for the student being that they cant control themselves, I wish I could do more but I don't really know where to start. My admin is handling everything regarding the issue. This poor kid it makes me sad . However, it makes my day challenging in an already challenging role having 2 grades to teach. Some days I feel like nothing is learned because of their outbursts.
Just feeling   about it.

 i hear ya!! i had a day like that today, too!
i'm a speech therapist, so i only have 2-4 kids at a time.... but a few of the kids have behavior issues that make even a couple kids hard to manage! i feel bad for the kids, and i try to be understanding of their issues, but its so hard to get any teaching accomplished when i'm spending that much time managing behavior.
i just keep telling myself that thanksgiving break is coming up, and that i get all summer off!

I totally hear you!!! i teach self-contained sp. ed. and some days, i feel all i do is manage behavior. it's tough, but hang in there. have you tried any behavior mod. plans with him... or even the rest of the class.... you can reinforce their good behavior or when they don't respond to his negative behavior.

I do have a behavior mod plan with the whole class and a separate one with another student. I just dunno what to do with him because yesterday and today i learned that even trying to reward him with things he likes doesnt work all the time. He usually winds up being pulled from my class when hes outta control. Its sad because when he is focused hes a sweet kid and he loves to do his schoolwork.
