My mom told me to use Rome apples...but they didn't have them at A&P...so, what kind of apples do you use to make an apple pie? I am planning on making one for Thanksgiving...and I want to make a practice pie this weekend

I actually use Golden Delicious which is a little unorthodox I think, but I like that the taste is less sweet....my pie recipe also has less sugar than most I think. It's delicious though
