Would you make a move in this economy if
a good job opportunity fell in your hands and you ended up getting the job with 20% pay increase, great opportunities, fantastic benefits but possibly less time with your child? Although I would save about an hour on commuting.
ETA: I should add that I am already a FT working mom.

Tough call, but in this economy I'd take it, the +'s sound amazing!! Plus you say its only "possibly" less time with DC so who knows it might not be a big impact? Also once you're up and running in the job you may be able to have more control over your schedule to minimize "away" time?
Good luck!!!!

Im all about spending as much time as you can with DC, but this sounds too good to pass up. I guess it would all depend on just how much less you would be able to see DS, is it significant?

How significant is the 'much less time' ... if you are saving an hour off your commute, will it even out at all?
It's definitely a tough call. If this is something that will further your career - and give you room for future growth ... it may be an opportunity you shouldn't pass up. In 1 year you could always look for another job then. If it is a lateral move and you would miss a signifcant amount of time with Michael, then I don't know if it would be worth it.

Its occassional overtime...not really an everyday thing...so they tell me but you never know and I have to be prepared. Its definitely an upward move that will open the door for a lot more opportunities in the future.

I think it will even it all out on most days. But I'm sure there will be days where all I'll get to do is kiss him goodnight.

If those days would be few and far between I would go for it. You will probably have extra time with him in the morning without the commute. It also sounds like a great opportunity and 20% more is always a great thing .
Good luck

No - I made a switch about a month ago that was for less money but I get to spend more time with DD.

watch out for this, my last job told me the same thing and nobody left there at night before 7pm (every night!)
If this is an upward move, it might also be more expected of you to stay later, etc.
Sounds like a great opportunity - are you working with a headhunter? maybe he/she can find out the real deal
