Bleeding and pain while a miscarriage
I am not sure where to post.
I am bleeding very heavily right now and the pain has actually increased tonight. I had to take some Tylenol as the pain is radiating all the way to my back and I rarely take pain medicine. I started miscarrying last night. The Dr. told me it would last about 2 days.
How long did you bleed? How was the pain?
She told me to make sure it did not last for too long as it would not be considered normal.
Would you mind sharing your experience?
TIA

I am so sorry for your loss. Maybe you should go to the emergency tonight if you are in a lot of pain and having very heavy bleeding.

Re: Bleeding and pain while a miscarriage
I had minor bleeding for a week. Never enough to soak a pad. I would only really notice all the blood when I went to the bathroom (sorry tmi )
It started with a BAD backache...i thought I slept wrong. Then I had bad cramps for about 2 days. I took tylenol and that helped.
If you are bleeding VERY heavily...like going through, say a pad an hour or so...soaking...I would DEF call the OB/ GYN

Re: Bleeding and pain while a miscarriage
If your bleeding real bad, you may need a d & c. Agree with Rachelle...more then a pad an hour..even every 2 hours call, and or if it doesnt slow down within a few days.

Re: Bleeding and pain while a miscarriage
It's full blown AF like blood. I told the Dr. She did not appear to think it was abnormal. She told me the lining and everything was coming apart and going through and t would slow down after 2 hours. That was 4 hours ago. She told me I would bleed for 2 days.
I have to call tomorrow afternoon for my result so I will ask again if the bleeding is still that heavy.

Re: Bleeding and pain while a miscarriage
I miscarried at about 7.5 weeks, naturally. I started spotting red at night, and when I woke up it was more. By the end of the day, it was like AF. It didn't really hurt that first day, just some cramping and red blood.
The next day (at work, lovely ) it started to get painful. Really painful. Thankfully I was on my way home. I ran to the bathroom and sat on the toilet for a while because that's the only position that helped. While I was doing that, I passed a large clot. STill hurt, so I laid down.
By the next day I didn't have any more significant pain, just like having AF. The bleeding lasted maybe another day or two.
Word to the wise - you are very, very fertile after a miscarriage. I concieved exactly one week after the bleeding stopped, and that's how Alex came into this world

Re: Bleeding and pain while a miscarriage
I had a chemical last summer which was just as you are describing. I couldn't even get out of bed. It was very painful the first day. I bled very heavily passing lots of clots (sorry, TMI). I was soaking through pads like crazy. It lasted about two days, but the first day was the worst of it. The rest was like a normal period, lasted another 4 days, but the bleeding was much lighter and not clotted.
I'm so sorry you are going through this.

Re: Bleeding and pain while a miscarriage
One day of super heavy bleeding with terrible cramping, another day that I would equate with the heaviest day of AF and lighter bleeding for about 5-6 days.
I'm sorry you are dealing with this. I know it's heartbreaking and scary.

Re: Bleeding and pain while a miscarriage
I'm sorry this is happening to you. When I miscarried at almost 7 weeks it started with very very light spotting. The next day it was like regular AF. The next day it was so heavy that it actually came through my clothes. I was worried at that stage and called my OB/GYN. She said that if it is more than a pad an hour to call back and go to the hospital. It wasn't quite that bad and had subsided by the following day. It stopped being like AF on the 4th day but I continued to spot for a week.
The cramps were not so bad but I was concerned by the pressure and force of the flow.

Re: Bleeding and pain while a miscarriage
i bled VERY bad.. i didnt need a D & C cause i delivered the baby naturally..
but i bled for 2 weeks after.. and was in extreme pain..
its all probably normal., but i would just put in a phone call to your doc about it and make sure its natural for you to have all this pain
