Dh is going to quit his job

I am speechless....I don't even know what to say.....it is crazy....

On one hand, I totally know why and 2 years ago I would have supported this!

He works for a small IT firm in NYC that was able to rebuild itself after their losses in 9/11. The sacrificed health care benefits in order to stay open. His boss is/was flexible. No set vacation time and he really never complained about days off.

Since having the twins a year ago he has become a PITA. This year there were no bonuses. And yet, it was one of their best years. DH was angry and today was the last straw.

In leu of any raise last year, DH works from home 1 day a week so that we can save on child care.

If I told you what he makes, it is laughable.

So, do you know of any companies that are hiring a Senior Computer Engineer?

We live in NYC on the Upper East Side. Right now DH works on Wall Street.

Thanks for thinking of us!

I hope he doesn't cut off his nose to spite his face... In this economy, he really should have a new job before quitting. The job market isn't great right now...

Good luck. If I hear of any IT jobs, I will post the info. Chat Icon

I agree with Kara. I know people in my field (healthcare/social work) who are being laid off/having difficulties finding employment and that wouldn't be "typical" you would think for this field.

I even have slight paranoia about not having a job to go back to once my maternity leave is over because my company has even alluded to lay-offs.

Glad to hear it. I would interview but definitely NOT quit until I had a start date. To have nothing - not even unemployment is going to be tough...and it's hard to interivew if he's going to be watching the kids to save on daycare costs while he's out of work.

Re: Dh is going to quit his job

I was miserable in my job for a while. I started looking for something new in June. Because I already had a job, I was able to turn down jobs that I didn't think would be right for me. In the end, I had the choice of jobs and I start my new job Monday.

Good luck to your DH. I hope he finds something soon! But I definitely wouldn't quit until I had something lined up.
