I also live around the block from this house. It is a cute area. The further North you go the better the neighborhood gets. I went through the Huntington school system but it was really good back then. Its not so much the school "education" that is currently bad but the gangs are the problem. Trust me when I say there are many other school districts that are worse. even great schools have their problems - i have stories about Hauppauge and Northport schools.
Who knows what any school will be like in 10 years.

I am also in the area - we drove by this weekend to take a peak. It's a cute house - nice, quiet block.
I didn't realize it was South Huntington SD - isn't that SD 13? I thought Huntington SD was 6...SD 3 is Harborfields, right? Or am I confusing Harborfields and Huntington SD #'s?? 
I also would never have thought that that area was considered the "village". I considered HV to be just that - areas within the village... Interesting.

its not in south huntington. its in sd #13 the zip is 11743 and is huntington. Harborfields in near centerport and elwood and you pay for it in the houses.we are north of pulaski not sure where west neck rd is. were are by park avenue which is off of woodhull road. the elementary school is on woodhull about 1 mile.

That is a beautiful area, definitely worth the $ West Neck is by the post office and mive theater.

Eckerd is a bit west on 25a - do you mean Walgreen's? I don't think the map is 100% accurate...
The house is off of Manhattan which is off of Woodhull - definitely north of Walgreen's and *possibly* the big H.

LOL - On NY Ave, going north, is a shopping center with Marchall's, Kmart, Old Navy, Home Depot, etc........way back when, that shopping center used to be referred to as the "Big H".

that area is Huntington School district, which is #3, not #13. I grew up near there and went to huntington schools and it is definitely #3. South Huntington is #13. I think the cutoff of Hunt. & S. Huntington is 11th Street which is south of Pulaski.
I went to Huntington HS and back then it wasn't like it is now. It was always a diverse district, but there weren't any gang issues at the time like there are now.
also, district #3 and district #13 both have parts that are considered 11743 as well as 11746 so you can't go by just the zip code. Some parts of Huntington that are 11743 are also part of Harborfields.

I went with my Dad to take a look at it just for the heck of it.
People were lined up to get in. It wasn't in bad shape, but none of the bathrooms had ever been redone, the basement was unfinished, the washer and dryer were in one of the bathrooms. But overall, it would have been a good deal. Structurally sound. We stopeed in after the major lines to get in and there were 2 people writing up offers onthe hoods of their cars !
