Does anyone feel like their doctors are useless?
Long story short.....
Im having some issues....
Go to my GP. She does nothing except run some blood work. Blood work comes back slightly abnormal but she doesnt think it's an issue...ignores all my symptoms...ignores why I came to her to begin with...
I take myself to the Endo on my own..He diagnoses me with Hashimoto's. But tells me that he feels that there is probably more going on with me..tells me we'll look into it at my next appt in 3 months...
Go back to GP b/c of another issue or rather symptom. See the Nurse Practitioner instead...she tells me to go to a Rheumatologist. Says she doesnt want to treat my issue b/c she wants the Rheumatologist to see it..runs some tests...sends me on my way. Tests come back on the high end of normal..she calls and says that they are normal and dismisses the symptoms that I have.
On and on and on and on it goes like this..they test me for something..find nothing...and then dont want to persue it any further....
My Endo basically just told me to go to the Rheumatologist, Dermatologist, and Gynocologist....ARE "F"ing kidding me?
Where the H E L L is Dr HOUSE!!!!!
Thanks for letting me vent...

I know exactly how you feel. When you were diagnosed with Hashimoto's, I figured that you would take a medication that would resolve your symptoms. I actually thought you were very lucky because with me, they never find the answers. I didn't see that it was just as complex for you as it is for me. I try very hard to understand that medicine is not an exact science but that should be more reason for doctors to make an effort to look into things.

Im trying to be optimistic...that the Rheumatologist is going to have some answers...but I cant help but think it'll be the same. I'll go in. We'll talk. We'll review symptoms. She'll run tests. They'll come back normal. She'll suggest another specialist....The cycle will begin AGAIN!!!!
OH...and if one more doctor dismisses my weight gain to "getting older" Im going to hurl. I never have an issue with my age...NEVER...but right now I wish I was 20something just to see if they'd be more concerned.

Fire your GP. You need another one.
That is just ridiculous. Your GP should be the captain of your health ship.
When you get the info from the Rheumy make sure you get an action plan to feel better.
Lots of doctors dismiss women's complaints even if they are women.
It's all how the doctor views the patient. You are not only a patient, you are a customer. If you bought something and weren't satisfied, would you just accept it?
Sorry you have this issue.

Yes, I feel the same way as you do with one doctor at the practice I go to in particular. I had an appointment with another one there one day when the first one was all booked up, and LOVED how she actually took me seriously. I will never make an appointment with the other one again.
