how to breastfeed/pump with twins
Hi all you twins mommies! I am currently pregnant with twins. I know that I'd like to breastfeed and was wondering what is the best way to do it without losing my entire day to feeding? Have any of you ever pumped for one and then breast fed the other and then rotated later on? Can they take to both a bottle and the breast? I want DH to be able to experience feeding them and to also help as I know it will be hectic and am just trying to figure out how things will work. If you've had any experience you could share I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Re: how to breastfeed/pump with twins
Hi, I am pregnant with twins too!!! I don't have any experience with BF'ing them yet (obviously) but my friend at work gave me some advice. She said you can pump milk for a bottle and BRU has this bottle with a long bendy straw type thing with a nipple on the end... So you can feed both babies at the same time. One on the breast and the other with the bottle. The long straw makes it so that you can sit the bottle on the table and have the baby in a high chair and be both at the same time. She said if you don't feed them at the same time you might feel like you are always feeding babies and this makes life a lot easier. Also, alternate which baby is at the breast and which is at the bottle so they take turns.
I'm curious to see what other advice ladies give.

The bottle is called the Podee. My kids were very slow atthe breast so I pump for pretty much all their feedings now and only occasionally breastfeed. There is also a pillow called the ez to nurse pillow that allows tandem nursing. I tried it once but logistically it didn't work for me. I think I am too impatient for breastfeeding I pump about 5 times a day but in the beginning you need to pump between 8-12 ytimes a day. If you BF and pump-you should feed first then pump after it will increase your supply.

Re: how to breastfeed/pump with twins
I tandem nurse my twins. I have the e-z to nurse pillow - I wouldn't be able to breastfeed them both at the same time without it. I have to admit it was REALLY hard for the first 2-3 weeks, I almost gave up many times - DS was terrible at latching and DD took an hour to eat. I was feeling like a cow between nursing and pumping (to increase my supply). But finally everything clicked and now it is much easier (they are 5 weeks old). I do feed them bottles of formula, but only at night so that they stay a little fuller and I can get some extra sleep. I am considering getting rid of those bottles though and EBF. I know I told DH before they were born that he would have to be encouraging and make me keep at it if I told him I wanted to give up. I am glad I gave him this talk while I was still pregnant, because otherwise I am sure he would have told me to give it up when he saw how miserable I was those first few weeks.
