I'm out this month, but I have a question...
I spoke to my friend who got pregnant after 2 years of trying and went to East Coast Fertility and the 1st month got pregnant, anyway she wants to lend me a microscope that she bought that tells when you ovulate from your saliva.
Has anyone ever heard of this? And, if so how reliable is it? She says the EC said it was one of the best things to have while trying to get pg.

I have one and I know Redstar, and KaraGC have one. You basicaly take a drop or so of saliva that you place on the lens and then pop it in the the microscope....the whole thing is about the size of a tube of lipstick. You look for "fernies" and that helps tell if you are ovulating.
ETA....this is what I have ....

Re: I'm out this month, but I have a question...
Yes I have one but I have to be honest, I don't find them accurate.
What it's measuring is estradoil, and estrogen surges throughout your cycle so..you can have ferning in your 2ww. So unless you are pretty sure of your ovulation...and you want this as a back up, I would never rely on it. Also fertility meds like clomid trick the body into believing it's not producing enough estrogen so the body sometimes has a higher amount of it when using clomid/injectibles.
Number one method of predicting ovulation is blood work...and u/s. If you are going to go to a fertility clinic, I would ask them if you can be monitored closely with blood work/u/s....it bothers me so much that clinics tell their patients to use opks. Yet clinics like Cornell, do not...they want you there all the time....(one of the reasons Cornell is considered one of the best in the nation).
A good second predictor is the cbfm monitor...

MIchelle,
I will be telling them on Mon that if they are not going to be monitoring me with U/s and/or bloodwork then whats the point of me going to them. My dr didnt do this and this is the reason I am going to EC. Trust me I am going to be watching everything they do,promise.
