Pay Cut?
Our Europe and Asia non-exempt counterparts had their OT eliminated.
I think we're next. That's 20% of my income!
I have built in OT..I've worked roughly 8-6 most days for the last 5 years. I never leave my desk for lunch..other than sick days, personal, vacation and the occasional doc appt those are my hours.
I average 20-25 hours per pay period and often have to stay past 6. I work for 3 very busy execs and their team.
I know several other exec admins that do the same. We are all very upset by it but thankful we are working. I guess it could be worse.
I took the job 5 years ago at a lower salary because I knew I would get OT.
I hope I don't sound whiney about it when I know so many have lost their jobs, but no one else is getting a pay cut..none of the exempt staff is getting cut.
We didn't get raises or bonuses and won't for the foreseeable future which is fine.
Now I work for a team of people where my whole career here was working for 2 people as a close knit team.
Things sure have changed.

Re: Pay Cut?
My DH will take a huge pay cut in the near future. He gets bonuses throughout the year that are really part of his overall salary, they are being eliminated in an effort to cut costs. He will work exactly the same number of hours he has always worked.

I'm an executive assistant too and our OT has been cut down as well. I got a minimal raise this year, but I'm bringing home less money than last year because of the OT situation! I feel your pain!

what gets me is that I'm fine if everyone took a cut, but I got no bonus and they are probably taking the OT away.
The exempt staff and officers are not taking a cut.
The bonus they took away was minimal anyway but this just added insult to injury.
I know, again, happy to be employed. I will be pizzed though if that's really the case.

Re: Pay Cut?
If everyone was cut that would be ok (well, as ok as it could be) but now I feel that they don't value the non-exempt staff, many of which wouldn't be able to make ends meet without the OT.
I would have to make adjustments and would cut more from our spending (it would really suck) but some of the other non-exempt staff won't be able to handle it.
Someone who had their OT cut now has to take on another job.

Re: Pay Cut?
that totally stinks. A lot of people are taking pay cuts or cutting OT, so at the very least feel comfort its not just you. And I guess the best thing is to be glad you still have a job, since so many people are losing those to

Re: Pay Cut?
They're mulling over paycuts at my office too.
However, just to make it clear, they cannot take your overtime away if you are working overtime. They are required by law to pay OT.

Re: Pay Cut?
I just had my hours cut from full-time (40hrs/wk) to part-time (25hrs/wk). With that they took all my benefits....every last one of them
Needless to say I have to find a new job now. Its so depressing falling victim of this economy.
Best of luck to you

yeah, I know..I won't work OT if I don't get paid even though I know I would want to help my boss out. I just can't and I shouldn't.
I will have a better quality of life though only working 40 hours and taking a full hour lunch. I would probably come in later or go home earlier though..I can't ever get away from my desk.

that's awful..
I know if it happens it won't be the worst thing ever and I know I'm fortunate enough to be employed.
I'm sorry this happened to you. Just terrible..
