For those that work in a school (not teachers)..
Do you get the summers off (not counting if you work summer school)??

ETA: I mean if you work in the office (secretaries).

my brother was a maintainer and he worked year round. The grounds still need to be kept.

dh's niece just got a job as a school secretary and she gets summers off. she works for a principal.

there are 10 and 12 month positions for secretaries. most schools are 10 months and most in the administration is 12 months
(my mom was a 10 monther - they would always try her to woo her to 12 month, but she didn't want to work in the summer)
keep in mind that 10 months is a week before teachers come in and a week after teachers leave.

All of the "interview letters" I have received from being on the civil service list (how you get most office jobs at schools) have been 12 month positions. I have a friend who is a secretary to a principal and she does not have the summer off.

our school secretaries and custodians do not get summers off....I think that a secretarial position is 12month

I know people who are school secretaries in public schools-and they get the summers off, so I think it really depends on what KIND of secretary you are....
