Does anyone not like spending time with nephews/nieces?

Don't get me wrong, I love them-DH has 2 nephews, but their behavior is so terrible, it's just not fun for us to watch them. After 5 minutes they tire me out, and I am a teacher! One is 9 and one is 6....they have no rules, just running around on furniture,screaming, making a mess. I don't remember being like that when I was a kid. His brother and sister in law probably think we are a terrible aunt and uncle. Am I a terrible person?

It's the teacher...I loooove my niece and my half siblings, but being around kids ALL day long means that there are times that I don't want to be around kids on the weekend. For me, it's the fact that the kids are like magnets to me and I would prefer grown up talk rather than playing barbies sometimes.

I feel your pain, I am a teacher too and enjoy my weekends with no kids, but my niece and nephew are very well behaved with us, better than with their parents of course.

I think if my nieces and my nephews were not well behaved then I would definitely feel the way you do.

Our goddaughter lives in Florida and before that, NJ, so we didn't get her as often as we would have liked to. We have her 2 weeks this summer, I am very excited! But she's 15 and alot of fun!

Yeah, perhaps. My DH is so patient with them too, its amazing. By that time I am done, I don't have the patience for that type of behavior.

lets just say that i have children like that in my family - and whenever i have to see them i actually get a stomach ache its so horrible

other children are so well behaved ( or somewhat behaved LOL ) and i LOVE my time with them!

but the others. . .its such a shame bc you know its not their fault!

DH is a teacher and loves hanging out with the nieces and nephews with me.

I only have one niece, and she is wonderful, i love spending time with her.

If i had a whole bunch of nieces and nephews I am sure that i would not want to spend time with them just like everyone has posted.

But when its only one child its not as bad

My niece and nephew are angels, and I love them to death. I just don't see them as often as I would like to. They are busy with their lives.
DH's cousins' children are little helions. When they all get together, there are usually 10 of them, all running thru the house, screaming, who's crying, who's having a meltdown. DH and I usually can't wait to get away from the chaos. It's difficult to have a conversation with the parents because of the chaos.
Thankfully, it's only a couple of times a year.

My nephews are 7 and 4 and while sometimes they are absolute demons, most of the time they are really funny and fun to hang out with.. They like their video games so that's what they mostly like to do so it keeps them out of my hair sometimes when I babysit them..

I cant say I feel the same - My neices are my world. But there are times when I get home or she leaves after spending the day and I am like phew that was exhausting.

I adore my niece and nephews but my older nephew is a bit challenging and its going through a difficult phase right now which makes it hard to deal with him, but overall, I hate not being around them!!!
