Allergy shots - Please tell me what I should know
I'm starting allergy shots in a few weeks. Could you please tell me pros and cons? Did they work for you? If so, when did you finally feel relief? (They told me it could take up to a year.) Anything else you'd like to share with me? TIA!!!!!!

takes up to a year......if you start to swell up at the reaction site, they will slow down the increases. It's hard to make time for it but I think it worked okay for me.

Re: Allergy shots - Please tell me what I should know
I've been getting shots since January.
They will give you a dose level at a particular volume; and then increase the volume each time you visit until they move you up to the next dose, but smaller volume. If you have a reaction (swelling, redness, itching) they will either put you back to the previous shot level or keep you where you are until you can tolerate it.
I've gone on an accelerated schedule, going at least 2x but sometimes 3x a week for shots instead of just once a week. If I continue at this rate I should be at maintenance (ie 1x a month) by September. I picked a doctor that has an office near my work and has many before/after hours so I will go before or after my workday.
It's hard for me to tell if they've helped so far. I had other nasal and sinus issues that aggrivated my situation so I'm not a good judge. But both my allergist and ENT agree that I need to complete the allergy shots in order to keep my nasal issues in check.
