Re: Niagra Falls
We went a year and half ago and LOVED IT! It is so magical there and just an amazing sight to see. I actually cried when I first saw it...lol but I am an emotional one.
Anyway we stayed in the Clifton Hill area which I dont recommend. I mean it was great for us but just alot of kids and amusement park type stuff there. Not very romantic but you are in the heart of everything so it wasnt terrible. It was only a few blocks to the falls though which was sweet! The other option for hotels is up where the casinos are - I think there is an Embassy Suites and several "nicer" hotels - a bit further from the falls but just much more appealing and more romantic if you ask me.
Ok also we did EVERYTHING there. We did Maid of the Mist, Journey Behind the Falls and something else but I am drawing a blank right now. We also ate at the Keg which is in the Embassy Suites and has a nice view of the falls. At night they shine different colors on the falls which is pretty cool!

Re: Niagra Falls
Oh my dear - we go every single year - have never been in the summer - but that is on our list of MUST DO'S once Emma is old enough to appreciate the trip!
1. Where to stay: Best Western Rose City Suites - 300 Prince Charles Drive, Welland, Ontario. It's roughly a 15 minute drive to the falls and typically 70 or so a night for a SUITE (kitchenette, bathroom, sitting area, WELL WORTH IT). We have stayed here every year for 4 years and love it! We had friends get a room ON THE FALLS for almost 400 a night and our room was bigger....(they were very upset about that).
2. Things to do: summer is MUCH different than winter, but Journey Behind the Falls is wonderful, we've always wanted to do Maid of the Mist, Clifton Hill is OUTSTANDING fun (kinda like a boardwalky type place, but not a boardwalk) - all kinds of fun wax museums, tourist traps. There's also a glow in the dark mini golf that we do every year (so fun!!). Website: http://www.cliftonhill.com/
3. If you do stay in Welland (again, 15 minute drive) - there is a GREAT restaurant again, we eat at every year at least once: MT Bellies - http://www.mtbellies.com/
4. Skylon Tower - eat here - do the early bird special (WAY more affordable - no joke - don't even LOOK at the regular dinner time prices, early bird is 4:30 and 5:00 seatings) - well worth it. It's the best prime rib EVER!!! http://www.skylon.com/
if i think of anything else - i will edit!

Re: Niagra Falls
We went for our 1st anniversary too.
Stayed at the Sheraton on the Falls, with a Falls View - GORGEOUS! Especially at night with all the colors!
Eat at the Sklyon Tower - so cool!
Alot of the tours weren't open b/c it was before Memorial Day.
Walk around the town.
We even drove to Toronto one day.
Have Fun!
