Anyone Rh Negative who has received Rhogam?
Im RH Neg and ive heard your supposed to get a shot of Rhogam during pregnanty, after every rh Positive baby brith, or miscarriage. I miscarried at the end of last week. I went to the dr on Friday and he didnt say anything about getting the shot and it totally slipped my mind. Well i called him when i remembered about an hour later and he said since it was an early MC i was 7 weeks i wouldnt have to get the shot BUT if i want it i can get it. Well since i always heard you NEED the shot within 72 hours i said i would like to take it. Ever since then its been nothing but problems and the drs office hasnt called me back after i called them 3 times this morning. I dont know what to do cause now its going on 4 days. Does anyone know about the Rhogam shot and have an idea if i need it or not? Thank you so much

Re: Anyone Rh Negative who has received Rhogam?
I had the shot when I found out I was miscarrying. I ended up at the ER becuase of bleeding and they gave it to me there. They didn't give me a choice. They said that anytime there is bleeding, you need it so that your body doesn't produce antibodies against it.

Re: Anyone Rh Negative who has received Rhogam?
I am Rh Negative. I had the shot at 28 weeks pregnant with my 1st son and then after his birth as he was positve. After him I had a mc, I was very early maybe 6.5 weeks, my dr didnt give me the shot because she said that the embyro's blood was not mixing with my blood yet. I went on to have a healthy baby this past October (again receiving the shot at 28 weeks and then after birth). You'll be ok

i had an early MC and i went for the D&C today, they also gave me a shot of Rhogam. I would have been 8 weeks today, but i'm sure i was measuring much less. The doc. told me i needed the shot.

Re: Anyone Rh Negative who has received Rhogam?
Well after calling and getting bitched at by one of receptionists i had to go buy the shot for over $300 since my ins didnt cover it which they did last time cause the drs office ordered it for me. This time he gave me a prescription to get it and i had to pay. Anyway i finally got them on the phone and they tell me that the whole 72 hour thing isnt true and i will be fine it i get it tomorrow 5 days after my MC. Everyone who told me and every thing i read said it must be before 72 hours. So now i dont even know if its going to help. I wish he would have just opened his eyes to read my chart, i wouldnt be in this situation.

I miscarried at 7 weeks and got the shot in the ER when I initially went there for bleeding. From what the doctors and nurses told me, its still important to get the shot even if the pg ended early. I would talk to your doc again

Re: Anyone Rh Negative who has received Rhogam?
I got the shot-I was 10 weeks when I MC, but the pregnancy failed to thrive somewhere around week 6.
I would think most drs err on the side of caution and give the shot, but like a pp said, it depends on is your blood and that of the baby mixed. If they knew definitively that you MC before blood mingles, then it's probably not necessary to have the shot.
