What things do you do when a student moves?

Re: Student is moving to India next week
honestly- just say goodbye. nothing special unless you have a real close relationship to him/her
I guess you could have a small party but that depends on the grade/age

In my school, elementary, they would probably have a little party. Maybe each student would write something about the student that is leaving if there is an opportunity when he/she is out of the room? It's basically what you want to do.

Re: Student is moving to India next week
i'm not a classroom teacher ( i'm a speech therapist) but depending on what grade, maybe make a card and have the whole class sign it. I would say to have them each make their own cards, but i don't think his parents would want to move 25 cards to India with them maybe see if you have another teacher take him for a few minutes to you can have the whole class sign it or write a short note to him. Also maybe have a little party for him- just a bag of chips and some juice or something... you could probably even get a couple parents to send something in....

This sounds like a nice idea. The kid can leave having a last round of positive memories of his school
