Anyone else have to make "Swine Flu" Lesson plans?
We have to come up w/ 5 days of plans to post online in case the schools close for a week because of the flu.
Anyone else?

We were told it might happen with Avain flu a couple of years back. As if the kids would actually sit home and do the work

Most of them don't do the work IN school.... why would their living rooms be any different?!

I don't have to do lessons but we had a notice that went out. I read them the notice and just talked to them about it. I talked to them about the importance of washing your hands, covering your mouth when you sneeze and cough etc. ALL things that I go crazy over anyway, they know how I am.
ETA-My school is in Queens and the "epicenter" of the Swine Flu is in Queens as well. People in NYC are going a little crazy

I knew it was just stupid fairfax county! Ugh! Already moving this weekend and have interims due on Wednesday... now this stupidity!
There aren't even that many cases in VA!

I work at the school which is the "epicenter"of it all. We had to create learning packets for our students to do last week since we were closed. Hopefully, the students did at least some of the work. It's not a bad idea to have something in mind, just in case, but you have to keep in mind they are not going to want to do much work.

There aren't even that many cases in VA!
Nope, we had an emergency faculty meeting on Friday afternoon for this exact reason. We have to be prepared with lesson plans in case they have to close school for a swine flu case.
In all honesty, I'd rather throw together a week's worth of busy-work and not have to make up those days at the end of the year. We already had to make up 3 snow days (I was out on leave for 2 of them, yet I still have to make them up  )
But no, we have to do them too.
