I need to write a letter of recommendation..
...for my neighbor. I guess as a personal reference?
He is applying for a Head Maintenance position within our School District...
Can someone help? I dont have a clue as to what to write....
I dont know if it's relevant but he is already employed in a maintenace position within another school district.
TIA...

I had to do that once so because it's personal I wouldn't think you would have to list what he has done professionally unless you worked with him.

I think that is what is throwing me off. If I had worked with him I'd know what to write....

Re: I need to write a letter of recommendation..
hmm... that is tough if you haven't worked with him before and to make it more on the personal side. maybe just write about how long you've known him, and just write in there thats hes been a good neighbor, decent person- hasn't trashed your house or your yard LOL. Is there a time when he helped you fix something?? that might show that hes reliable/dependable??? haha i'm reaching here...

Re: I need to write a letter of recommendation..
People wrote personal letters of reccomendation for me when I was buying my co-op & basically they said how they knew me & how long they've known me & why they think I'd be a responsible owner & neighbor.
In your case, just switch that to employee. Say he is friendly, polite, etc---whatever you know about him.
Keep it simple, it doesn't have to be long. They probably just want to know that he gets along with people & isn't a loose cannon.
ETA-you don't have to mention his work, since you don't work with him, but if your kids go to that school he willbe working in, you could mention it in that context. Something like, you know how important itis for the safety of the children, to have a competant & responsible maintantence staff & you think he would be a great addition to your children's school district.
