I had my fill of kids calling me names, but this was a new one...

A student's grandmother called me a dog today.

I should be more offended. My class was supposed to attend the book fair last period, but couldn't because there was a poetry competition. My principal told me to take the kids to the yard because the older kids were having relay races, etc. We were outside for 20 minutes.

So this student's grandmother came to get him like she does every day. He was not in his usual spot so she saw two of my other students. She wanted to know "where did that dog take the students?" and wanted to know why we were outside and that her grandson was never supposed to go in the schoolyard. Meanwhile the kid had nearly knocked over a desk on the way out of the room, he was so excited. She said some other things in Spanish to them- they understood her but didn't want to tell me.

I had one of the girls write it up for my principal. I actually find it more funny than upsetting.
