Do you find this strange?
I know the economy is not great and not that many people are hiring.. but then why is it that I have sent hundreds of resumes through Career builder,etc even directly to company websites and I have not received ONE phone call to come in for an interview in the past 7 months!? I am trying really hard to find work! I social network, fax resumes, email them what is the problem?
I even went to recruiting agencies and they never call me with anything!
I actually did have an interview today (the first one in several months) it's for a position that I wasn't even looking for, kinda taking a step back if they want to hire me..but at this point I am desperate. Is this happening to any of you? Months with NO call backs??

I feel the same way. I have been looking since January. Sent out hundreds of resumes and have only received 2 "sorry we're not interested" emails. Yes the economy is to blame, but it's still a hard reality to face. Especially for me because I never expected to graduate in a bad economy.

I know we are at a COMPLETE hiring freeze. No hires at all until 3Q at least.

Oh I hear you on that I just moved from FL back up here to NY due to the economy. I went on no interviews in 8 months (was laid off last year) while living in FL and I got 10 interviews since moving to NY the beginning of May. I almost had a few jobs but I would almost start then get told sorry we decided not to go forward with hiring due to reconstructing the company. This happened more than once.
I have been getting alot of no responses too. I actually got more call backs for interviews from Craigslist than i do on Careerbuilder or Monster. I find that odd. So maybe try Craigslist but just watch out for the scams ones they are easy to notice. But I just wish they would send out an email or something in the mail saying either we hired or your not what we are looking for. I know that wont happen due to the overwhelming resumes companies been getting lately.

I just read in a book about getting a job that the best thing to do is go to the company and turn in your resume, that way you get face time. They will remember you, you know?

I would say its probably your resume or cover letter. I ALWAYS get calls. It depends what fireld you're in though. I am in technology/educational sales.

Thanks, I recently did go to a company I was interested in. I had no appointment, I figured I would just give it a shot and go to the HR office and ask if they were hiring and If I could leave my reasume. The security guard told me that I could not enter the building, I would need an appointment. Then he said "just go on their website and search for job postings" I guess they are pretty secure there...

Agreed. What is your field? Have you had anyone review your resume and cover letter?

Yes, a few people reviewed my resume and cover letter and said that it was perfect.
I don't really have a defined field.. I could work in any office. I have medical background experience as well.
